Shareholder Seeks Justice Over Alleged Multi-Million Dollar Fraud by YY Capital Chairman
(Phnom Penh) – A shareholder of YY Capital Partners Co., Ltd. has formally appealed to the Ministry of Justice of Cambodia, seeking intervention in a case against Yamada Taihei, the company’s Chairman, who stands accused of large-scale financial misconduct and breach of trust.
The appeal alleges that Yamada, a Japanese national, exploited his position to manipulate real estate deals, divert funds, and defraud investors. Preliminary reports indicate that roughly USD 4 million may have been misappropriated for personal gain.
According to the shareholder, Yamada allegedly made unilateral decisions without consulting other shareholders, fabricated business transactions including loans exceeding USD 7 million, forged official documents, and rerouted significant sums of money through shell companies under his control. Some of the funds were reportedly transferred abroad to a bank account registered under his wife’s name.
Investigations suggest Yamada also set up multiple shell companies in Cambodia, Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore, using nominees as company representatives while retaining direct control over all financial operations.
In Cambodia, he has already faced charges in at least two criminal cases, and several of his assets and bank accounts have been frozen under court orders. Additional cases are reportedly under investigation. Authorities in countries including China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United States are also said to be reviewing his activities in connection with embezzlement, document forgery, and possible money laundering.
The shareholder’s appeal stresses the need for a thorough and impartial investigation, highlighting concerns that influential individuals could interfere with the judicial process, intimidate witnesses, or compromise evidence.
The investor urges Cambodian courts to act decisively, ensure justice is served, and hold the accused accountable while protecting the rights of shareholders.
